Equal Housing Opportunity
Equal Housing Opportunity. All real estate advertised on this site is subject to the Federal Fair Housing Act, which makes it illegal to advertise any preference, limitation or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.
Protected classes
The federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), disability, familial status or national origin.
The Georgia Fair Housing Law provides parallel protections and is enforced by the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity.
What this means in practice
Questions about the demographic makeup, religious character or 'type of people' in a neighborhood cannot and will not be answered — steering is illegal and would not serve you well regardless.
Objective, verifiable information is always provided instead: school attendance zones from the district, tax and assessment records, HOA documents, crime statistics from the relevant agency, and closed comparable sales.
Filing a complaint
Complaints may be filed with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development at hud.gov, or with the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity.
Concerns about conduct on this site or in a transaction can also be raised directly with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers at 1674 Market Place Blvd, Cumming, GA 30041.
